Heavy hitters
WEEK 1
Stop Being So Precious About Time Off
Reality check: the most important thing in your employee's lives is not to work for your company. If you want to keep them productive and happy and retain them, then let them have time off when they ask for it. Find a way to make up the work before or after they return and make sure nothing gets missed. This pays dividends, employees who feel cared about as humans will return the favor in effort and productivity.

WEEK 2
Defining & Adopting a Growth Mindset
This week on the #shiftyestribe I'm outlining a growth mindset vs fixed mindset, aka grit & resilience. It's so important in business for teams and leaders to be talking about and building growth mindsets. Specifically with giving and receiving feedback, embracing and adapting to change, vulnerability, and overcoming obstacles. Having a growth mindset will level up how you show up in your work, relationships, personal goals, professional development, just about every aspect of life.

WEEK 3
Active (Skilled) Listening & Being a Human Flamethrower
You are 100% responsible for what it feels like to talk to you, own that. Active, skilled listening is not just nodding your head and making eye contact. Being a great listener involves making the other person feel listened to. Also, the way that you respond when someone shares an idea, or personal story, or information with you plays a big part in how or what they choose to communicate with you at all. Are you a human flame-thrower when someone has an idea or tells a personal story around you? If your instant reaction is to tell them all the reasons it won’t work, or to crap on their idea, or pipe up with a better version of your own story to make yourself look good, then yes, you probably are. Start engaging in conversations with the intent of making people feel listened to and being more aware of your responses.

WEEK 4
Diversity & Inclusion: The Value of Diverse Perspectives
We're just touching the tip of the iceberg this week on Diversity & Inclusion talking about just one aspect of it which is the value of having different and diverse voices and perspectives on teams and in conversations. This allows you to gain a broader perspective, address challenges and see solutions from various angles. This pertains to of course gender, race, age, experience level, industry, seniority, etc. When you include voices that are different than yours, you'll solve challenges and have more shared success with fresh, eager eyes. The diversity on your teams and in your organization give you strength.
